Question. How often do you look around you and appreciate all you have?
Do you ever think to yourself “I am thankful and grateful for everything I have”? Or do you focus on all the things missing?
Life throws so much at us that can bring us down and we forget about all the great things we have around us. Practising gratitude has scientifically proven positive benefits to our wellbeing and mindset.
Everyday I set aside time to be in the moment and feel blessed for all that comes to me. Below are my top 4 practices for daily gratitude that are easy to start TODAY.

4 ways to be more thankful and grateful everyday
Every evening I take 10 minutes before bed to write all the things I am grateful for from the day.
It’s a lovely way to be present and recap on how wonderfully abundant your life truly is.
It can be the smallest gesture like a smile from a stranger on the train, the fact that is was a gorgeous sunny day to spending time with a loved one or simply walking in the woods with your four legged friend.
Taking time to give thanks to all the positives that life gives you will put everything into perspective and you’ll start to see how truly blessed you are.
I suggest going to your favourite stationary store or shop online. Check out these pretty notebooks from Amazon or my top picks at the bottom of this post for inspiration.
Pick a book that you feel drawn to and will want to pick up at the end of your day. I simply write the date and I am grateful for… at the top of the page and will write out 6-10 items.
It is completely up to you how much you want to write and how you want to set it out.
If you struggle to think of anything, that’s ok, we are so overloaded all the time that we forget about the little things. Look around your bedroom for inspiration. Do you have comfy bedding that you cannot wait to snuggle down into? How about the electricity that gives you light to write in your journal?
Take it back to basics whenever you are unable to think.
Say Thank You
A super easy way of adding gratitude into daily practice is to say Thank You as soon as your feet hit the ground in the morning. After all, you’ve woken up and are lucky to have another day on this wonderful planet.
I will usually spend a few moments visualising my day and being thankful for all the things I get to do in the day ahead, even if I am not too thrilled.
It’s important to be grateful and say thank you, I am fortunate to…; take the dog for a walk (even if it’s raining and blowing a gale outside) drive to work and listen to my favourite podcast or book.
It sets your mind up for calm and positive vibes that will continue through your day and all the tasks you do.
Appreciate the moment
Nowadays it is so hard to just be present and enjoy the moment.
We have instant gratification at the touch of a button, a new app vying for our attention, whatsapp groups that never give us a minutes peace, how can we truly be happy, silent and thankful?
As much as I love, my phone and social media it has had a huge impact on how we see the world around us. Instead of looking at your phone, simply take a few minutes to yourself.
Say thank you for each special moment, I promise you will notice the difference.
Ask someone else what they are thankful and grateful for
I often ask my boyfriend, Will, what things he was grateful for that day and we say a couple of sentences each.
It’s great to see what others are grateful for and saying it outloud brings a whole new level of positive vibes to the universe. It could be a friend, a co-worker or a family member.
Spread the gratitude far and wide people, you never know who needs that chat most.
Four very simple steps to filling your days with gratitude.
Hopefully you feel that you can quickly add these into your day and that they make a positive impact. I always feel in a much better mood when I keep practicing.
Of course, there are days when life gets in the way and all your best intentions go to waste. Please don’t worry about it, it happens to everyone. I often have a couple of days where I haven’t been able to do all of these.
If you can try and do one of these a day that will make all the difference.
